GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:Consistent with the Goals of Education for Saskatchewan and the goals of the Buffalo Plains School Division #21, LUMSDEN High School affirms the worth of each individual and wishes to contribute to the development of all students in its jurisdiction. In cooperation with the home and other community institutions, the School seeks to create the opportunity for students to recognize the personal worth of the self and others. It seeks to provide opportunity for students to understand and to coexist with their social and physical environment. In order to accomplish this, the school will provide opportunities for students to: 1) Acquire, process, and communicate information, ideas and understandings by developing basic skills such as observing, listening, reading, writing, speaking, computing and problem solving. 2) Seek appropriate information, ideas and understandings and apply problem solving skills in order to make decisions. 3. Develop increasing responsibility for their own actions. 4. Develop skills in aesthetic and creative expression and appreciate such expression by others. 5. Become confident in interacting both formally and informally with individuals, groups, or institutions whether they display similar or different values, ideas, or practices. 6. Engage in physical, mental, social and aesthetic activities which enhance a healthy lifestyle and avoid abuses such as the misuse of drugs in any form. 7. Understand and respect the general values upon which our society is built and maintained _ democracy, honesty, compassion, respect for personal rights and property, respect for authority (both spiritual and temporal), social justice, and responsible dissent. 8. Develop realistic goals based on understanding of their own abilities, personal characteristics, limitations, and values; and initiate a plan of action for achieving those goals based on an understanding of current and changing |
