Student Almanacs: All students have been issued an LHS Student Almanac outlining the school regulations and student duties. Parents are encouraged to make themselves aware of the same. Student Attendance: Students and parents are reminded of the Lumsden High School attendance policy. Students are required to attend classes. It is the parent's responsibility to contact the school prior to or on the day of the actual absence. This constitutes an "Unexcused." Skipping class is not tolerated at LHS. A first offence may result in a two-day in school suspension. Subsequent offences will result in further consequence. A student is responsible for work covered and for assignments given in his or her absence, no matter what the reason for the absence. The student is responsible for ascertaining what he or she has missed and for making suitable arrangements to catch up on missed work. A common method is to have a fellow student pick up a Homework Assignment Sheet from the office and to complete the sheet for the student who is absent. Some students still have outstanding school fees. Post-dated chouse
and installment payments are accepted. If you require special arrangements, please contact
the office. The school telephones have been installed for business purposes. Students may use these telephones after obtaining permission in cases of emergency only (e.g. illness). Social and personal calls will not be channeled through the Office. Students are required to use the student telephone in the foyer. Collect, long-distance calls may be made from the student telephone. Students are encouraged to carry a telephone "calling card." Unless the matter is urgent, parents should call students on the student telephone as well. The Library Mrs. Chernick would like to remind all of the LHS Library patrons that it is never too late to return an overdue library book. She also asks that current and former users of the LHS Library check their homes for encyclopedia. Several volumes are missing and may have made their way home in a book bag or the like. Anaphylactic Shock: If your child has any known allergy, which may result in anaphylactic shock, please ensure that s/he has the required medication at the school. Though the student must assume responsibility for his/her medication, the school should be notified that the student has the medication at school. A.P. Environmental Science Sixteen highly motivated LHS students in grades 10, 11 and 12 are actively engaged in Advanced Placement Environmental Science. Currently, these students are studying the water quality of Last Mountain Lake, Valeport Marsh, and the Qu'Appelle River. A.P.
